What is foam core? A coach's in-depth explanation of how G4 Aerospace Foam Core revolutionized the industry

In fact, starting in 2025, the pickleball industry is experiencing a movement that could be called a foam core revolution, rapidly changing the industry standard of "honeycomb core = normal."

As someone (Coach Yoshi) who has tested over 100 paddles, I will thoroughly dissect what foam cores are, how they differ from honeycomb cores, and which players they suit. What is a paddle's "core"? Let's start with the basics.

A paddle is broadly composed of three layers:

  1. Face — Materials such as Raw Carbon or fiberglass
