Compared with Tokyo, Kansai still has relatively few dedicated courts, but that is exactly why practice sessions held at municipal gyms and on tennis courts, along with local community circles, play such a big role here. Over the last few years, pickleball has gradually become better known in Kansai. Not only in Osaka City itself, but in Sakai and the surrounding cities as well, practice sessions and beginner lessons are said to be held more and more often.

That said, I'll be honest: it hasn't yet reached the point where dedicated courts are everywhere, the way they are in Tokyo. That's exactly why knowing several different ways to search makes it much easier to find a session running near you.

5 Ways to Find a Place to Play in Osaka and Kansai

Rather than memorizing the names of specific facilities, it's far more useful to build the skill of finding the sessions that are running right now. Fees and schedules change easily, so please always confirm the latest details with the official source. Try these five approaches in order.

1. Search a pickleball-specific event site

The easiest place to start is a site that lets you filter events by area and date. You can narrow the results by date, level, and entry fee, so I'd recommend starting here.

2. Check municipal gyms and sports centers

In Kansai, ward and city sports facilities sometimes run "pickleball classes" or "new sports" try-out events. Searching the name of your city or ward together with "ピックルボール" (pickleball) or "ニュースポーツ" (new sports), or looking at the event pages on your local gym or sports center's official site, can turn up sessions at very reasonable prices.

3. Look for converted tennis court slots
